The PWA blood bank was established back in 1982 and by the Grace of Almighty Allah has completed 23 glorious years. PWA has got the honor of being the largest single story blood bank. It is the only blood bank which provides blood free of cost on exchange basis. It also has the honor of being recognized by W.H.O.

Working as the only blood bank under students supervision, it is one of the most hi-tech and advanced blood banks of Karachi.

We provide the following services:

1 - Screening of diseases which have now become a menace like Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV and VDRL. We are now considering to start a regular screening of Malarial parasite.

2 - PWA blood bank also provides blood components like
a) Packed cells.
b) Platelets.
c) Fresh Frozen Plasma.
d) Cryoprecipitate

The blood bank possesses an ultra-low refrigerator obtained a couple of years back for the storage and continuous supply of fresh frozen plasma.

Our daily output is about 175 to 200 bags per day showing that our blood bank is one of the busiest in the city. We not only provide our services to the patients of Civil Hospital but also to patients all over Karachi.
