drug
bank
The Drug bank is the oldest
member of the PWA family. It was started as a single cupboard of medicines by
three students of Dow Medical College in 1979. From there, it has grown to its
recent state of more than 2000 sq. feet of covered area and is now a full fledge
pharmacy, enabling the students of DMC; the sole and active workers running the
Drug bank, to put a smile on the faces of those who can’t help themselves.
The Drug bank caters to the
needs of over seventy hospitalized patients at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK),
accepting seven requests per ward each day. Besides those given on daily basis,
drugs are also given in follow up clinics including Thalassemia, Tuberculosis
and General follow up.
Computerization of the Drug
bank in the year 2004 has made our work more efficient. The follow up clinics
are now a separate department.
We at PWA Drug bank are
working with the undying hope of a better tomorrow. We hope that the funds of
our generous donors will support us in the future as they have in the past.
